Description:

This is a NFP that gives legal assistance.  Free civil, legal services to low income and senior citizens.  No criminial, traffic, personal injury or workers' compensation cases taken.
There are 5 regional offices located in Alton, Champaign, Carbondale, East St. Louis, and Springfield.  The Alton office serves these counties: Adams, Bond, Brown, Calhoun, Greene, Hancock, Jersey, Macoupin, Madison, Montgomery, Pike and Schuyler.  East St. Louis location above services: Clinton, Fayette, Monroe, Randolph, St. Clair and Washington.

  • Legal Advice and Referral Center (LARC) - is an advice and referral center that in a centralized telephone intake number. (877-342-7891)
  • Housing issues - evictions, foreclosures, lock-outs, utility shut-offs, contract for deed problems or trouble getting the landlord or housing authority to make repairs.
  • Family issues - cases for victims of domestic violence, orders of protection and divorce, custody cases and some divorces.  In some areas, we offer self-help clinics on divorce.
  • Consumer issues - debt collection, repossession, garnishments, home improvement problems, and car sales or repair problems.
  • Public Benefits and Health issues - TANF, SSI, general assistance, Food Stamps, Medicaid or Medicare issues.
  • Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons issues -wills and powers of attorney for persons 60 and over, and persons HIV positive, nursing home quality of care issues (in some counties).
  • Educational issues -cases for children with disabilities and for wards of DCFS.
